Here are some of those events:
Chapter meetings
We have our monthly chapter meetings at 6:30 on the third Tuesday of the month at FOP Lodge on Altama Ave.
We usually have over 40 members at the chapter meetings. That is a good percent of the total membership.
After a short business meeting we usually take a dinner ride. We have a great slate of officers but need additional volunteers. If you would like to be an officer please let us know. We need the following officers: Membership. Ladies of Harley, Historian, and Road captians.
March of Dimes Walk and Stewbilee
Our chapter led the March of Dimes walk this year. We had about 15 bikes that showed up to lead the walkers for the first couple blocks. We then took a little ride for breakfast. We ate in Hoboken. After breakfast we rode back to Brunswick to go to the Stewbilee. We sampled many stews including the one cooked up by our own Wendy and Jim Fox. The stew was very good and the booth looked great with the H-D decor. Although, Wendy's stew did not win, we still had a great time.
Christmas for the animals
About 10 bikes and one sleigh showed up for our Christmas for the Animals ride. The chapter members took lots of toys, food and chewies to the dogs and cats at the Humane Society. Then we went inside and saw some of the animals that were available for adoption, It was very difficult to not take one (or ALL) of them home. Good thing we were on bikes, gave us an excuse to leave there without any new family member. After we left the Humane Society we rode to Spankey's marshside and met the Jacksonville and Savannah HOG chapters for lunch. The turn out was GREAT. Jacksonville had about 70-90 members, Savannah had about 30-40 and our local chapter had about 15. We had a great time and the directors of the three chapters discussed other joint rides that we will be doing this year. Check back from time to time for more info on these and and other rides.
Chapter Christmas party.
The party started with a social hour and BRIEF business meeting. We then had a GREAT dinner prepared by the staff at Oak Grove Island Golf Club. After dinner we had drawings for door prizes. Then we did secret Santa. As usual there were a few gifts that everyone wanted so the "stealing" and "re-stealing" was great fun. If you were not there you will want to make plans to be there next year. Was an excellent party and everyone had a great time.
Toys for Tots run
For our third annual "Toys for Tots" ride, We had over 50 bike and riders show up and they brought many, many toys.
This event was in cooperation with the US Marine Corp Reserves and they sent a representative. CWO R.J Dempsey. This ride was the kick off for the 2007 Toys for Tots campaign as it has been for the last two years.
After we gave the Marines the toys we rode to Savannah HD. The ride was great and the weather was excellent. We went to Savannah Harley-Davidson and then to Hooters for lunch.
Demo day
The dealership had a it's first demo day for the 2008 models and again the HOG chapter was well represented. We provided lead and "tail gunner" support for the demo groups. This also allowed the chapter members to ride the different models if they wanted to.
Brunswick Christmas Parade
Our chapter entered the Christmas parade again this year. We had a great turn out and the weather was very good again this year. We had about 20 bikes show, a couple bikes pulling trailers and one sleigh pulled by a "hog" thanks to the Foxs. Chapter members decorated their bikes and they looked great. We followed the parade route and as we did two bikes would ride circles around the rest of the chapter members. When we got to the reviewing stand we stopped and gave stuffed animals to the children in attendance. The smiles on there faces was great. After the parade most of the bikes rode together to Mudcat Charlie's to have some lunch and so we could ride, like we need a reason.
So, as you can see, this chapter is doing very well. We have increased our membership and we have tried to learn and improve with each activity. We have many activities in the works for 2008 and we hope that you can attend.
Thanks for stopping by and we hope you enjoy your visit.
